Will 5.56 Ak mags work with 5.45 ammo?? If not, can I convert my 5.56 mags to work in my 5.45 rifle?

Maybe, but you'd be better off selling your 5.56 mags and using the money to buy 5.45 mags. 5.56 mags are much harder to find and typically more valuable.

+1. If you are talking about normal .223 AK mags, you can easily get two 5.45 mags for the .223 ones! if they are the Weigers mags, They are worth less, but only work in the Romy AK's. That said...what kind of AK is it?

Just buy the right mags in 5.45.

The cost and time to convert them would be more than you
could get some good / excellent condition used oned for.

ORF had 5.45 mag for sale at one time for ~ $3.00 each if you bought 12.

I would trade you 5.45 mags even for .223 mags......

I was wondering to,,,I am tempted to buy one of the 5.56 clear mags and see if I could modify it to work in my 5.45 rifles...I've got lots of 5.45 mags but no clear ones.

I have tried it and it could only feed 4-5 rounds reliably. You cant just switch followers as the 5.45 follower needs to be dremmeled of the edges which I did't attempt. Not worth it (to me) to ruin a 5.45 mag. If some else can do it and it actually works then I will attempt it! Those clear mags look real good when filled with ammo. Mine is filled and I don't even have a a 5.56 ak.
