Anyone have any experience with the Krebs Peep Sight? How do you install it? The following is the info they provide on it and it is not much. Thanks

FEATURES: The new KCI AK peep sight in both fixed and windage ajustable versions!   The sights are made from 4130 steel, heat treated to a hardness of 45 Rockwell.  They have a black oxide finish.  They are graduated to either 800 or 1000 meters, use the original elevation slide and are a direct replacement for the original AK rear sight.  They are also designed to permit the mounting of a Williams aperture sight.  Please specify whether your rifle uses an 800 or 1000 meter sight when ordering.

I have one and it works great. It installs just like a regular ak rear sight. You will be happy with it!

Windage adjustable. It does require an allen wrench for the adjustment.

Does it hold the windage adjustments? Is it pretty solid?

Since you have to use an allen wrench to loosen the peep and adjust for windage yes, it will hold your adjustments.

Solid....well I tried to put it in my VEPR by myself using a hammer, c-clamp, vise, and a lot of foul language, but even after all of that I still didn't bend it. Yes, Krebs makes them very solid.

The only thing that hurt it was the bench grinder I used to make it fit a little better. It was a bit too long for my VEPR.

If you like using peep sights, you won't be disappointed. It makes target acquisitions a lot easier.

Do veprs take the 800 or 1000 yard type of sight?

I believe it depends on which caliber the rifle is chambered for- the 1000 meter sight for 5.45 or 5.56, and the 800 meter sight for 7.62. Or is the 1000 meter sight for 7.62 RPK type rifles?

I'm confused myself. The Krebs website doesn't explain, either.

When I bought mine, Krebs sent me the 1000 meter sight for a VEPR K in 7.62.

It works just fine.
