Went to gun show in Mass today expecting to spend $250 on 2 cases of 5.45 but got their and the assclowns were selling it for $175.00 a case!. I laughed out loud at that price. The guys are assclowns there but I had just bought a case of 5.45 from them at a different show 6 weeks ago for $115.00.

Intending on spending some money regardless I purchased a case of 7.62 for an ubsurd price of $150- good thing the guy didnt get me to pay sales tax!

I believe there is and ammo shortage for Russian surplus ammo right now. That is probable why there is the price increase.

Yeah, I talked that guy down from $175 to $139.... which is still $20 more than I wanted to spend...

He would not go any lower, I told him people on Arfcom were buying the same ammo from him for $115

WOW- good job on talking him down. I never thought they would do that- THere was a mad rush right at 9am.... I got the last case of FMJ 7.62 ( they sold 30 cases in about 10 mintues. there were 2 cases of 5.45 still there at 11am.

Those guys seem like real jerks- they are really sarcastic and seem like you are bothering them by buying ammo off them.......

Yeah, he knew he could go lower but since they're the only ones with Ammo for sale, they can pick their price and people will still buy stuff.
I originally pulled out $120 and said take it...he just got really rude so i said screw it and gave him $139
Kinda funny that he sold ammo to a 17 year old too

You should've told him after he sold it to you to give you $20 back or you'd tell the cops he sold it to a 17 year old Just kidding of course!

Didn't know you had to be 18 to buy rifle ammo......I did it all of the time when I was 16

Lxpony dont you have enough any how?

At least you had the option of getting some 5.45, albeit at an inflated price. I haven't seen any at a show here in six months.

Supply and demand. I hate paying so much for it too. When is it going to stop? I guess it like Diesel. I paid $1.48/gal 16 mo's ago and I paid $2.60/GAL today. Sucks.........

not only do you have to be 18 to buy rifle ammo but you need a firearm license to purchase it in MASS> that guy commited a crime selling to a minor- of course he commited two crimes when he sold me the ammo:

1) didnt check to see if I had a license (I am 28)
2) didnt charge me states sales tax

At the last 4 gunshows in the Northwest there has been NO 5.45 and they don't think they will have any in the near future. Count yourself lucky you can get it. I've got 80 rds left with 2500 rounds on back order since December. Was able to pickup 1500 rounds of 7.62X39 Lapua.

We'll see how much it is up to at the Concord, NH show on April 8-9. Steve and family sell ammo at that show, too.

Yeah.. 5.45 is hard to get.
Over a million rounds is on order with russia.. It is just a matter of time before it comes in.

As far as ammo stores go....
I have at the min amount of 5.45 I am allowed to have on hand. That is 2500 FMJ.
So that means no more shooting 5.45
But lucky for me, I got 6K rounds of 7.62x39 to blast before I hit the min.

You always got to keep some ammo on hand. You really don't know what the future brings and the SHTF play book (regardless of which on you got) dictates that you keep atleast 1k rounds of ammo per caliber for the weapons you own. That means if you own 3 7.62 and 2 5.45x39 you need 1K rounds of 5.45 and 1K rounds of 7.62
I have AK's in 5.45, 7.62, and 5.56. I got AR's in 5.56 and 9mm.
I keep 1K rounds of each caliber.
Call me crazy if you want to.. But you can consider me a BOY SCOUT.

One thing to remember... I AK with no ammo is a expensive bat.
