People seem to prefer the Arsenal SA M-7 A1 R. Why is the SA M-7 A1 R better than the SA M-7 (Ban Style), SA M-7 (No Ban), SA M-7 S (Ban Style), SA M-7 R? What are the major differences? Thank You.

I've been wondering this as well.

all i know is that "R" means rail - i.e. rail for mounting optics on the side of the receiver.

It has the rail and the Bulgy flash hider on it. Both are good things.

The only difference between the SA M-7 A1 R and the SA M-7 R is the 24mm AK-74 style FSB which allows mounting of the Bulgy FH that comes with the A1 model.

I have a SA M-7 R that I put a 14mm - 24mm adapter on and then the Bulgy FH. Looks great, but ideally I'd rather have the A1 model just because...well just because I'm anal.

The only difference is the A1 model has the AK-74 24mm threaded FSB with a Bulgy FH and the 'non-A1' models have the original AK-47 style FSB with 14mm barrel threads and a barrel nut. But you can buy the adapter and thread the same FH that's on the A-1 on to the 'non-A1' models.

Any 'R' model has the scope rail, the SA M-7 R has the rail.
