What is the best AK for the money?? Which ones are better built, and what should I stay away from??

VEPR is a damn fine rifle but it don't look like an AK. It's "sporterized". There's one contender for the money if you're not a purist.

For regular traditional AK, a VECTOR is real good for the money...

Agreed. For the money, a Vector Classic or underfolder can't be beat. Nothin' personal, "bodydropper!"

depends... You want the classic "look" of the AK. Then an aresenal SAM7/classic. As far as accuracy, ergonomics, and recoil go the VEPR can't be beat. I know I'll never get rid of mine!

Romanians if you hand pick for straight sights, and side rail parallel to the bore, and if it's a WASR, finding a good mag well conversion.

Norinco MAK-90. They have very good fit, excellent parts, a nice deep blued finish, and are generally quite accurate. You can find the thumbhole versions for around $300-350, and convert them for less than $100.

Sometimes. Other times when I see a crippled old man who's fallen and can't get up, a stray three-legged dog trying to run acroos the freeway, or a cute little squirrel smashed on the pavement, I know somewhere, someone is posting about an Arsenal.
