I'm not a huge handgun guy.  I have 3 basics.  A semi-auto .45 (H&K Tactical), a camp/bear gun (S&W 629), and my little carry piece (S&W 442).

I plan to get more, but the AK bug still has a solid grip on my wallet, and I see no remedy any time soon.

I guess as a SHTF pistol or just all around....the Glock 17 would be hard to beat. It's my first handgun and one of my favorites. I plan to get a Glock 20 so I can dish out 15 rounds of 10mm power.

But I also have a CZ-52, Makarov, and 1911. All of which have their pluses and minuses. I love the size. feel, and quality construction of the Makarov, the power and feel of the 1911, and the 7.62x25mm round the CZ-52 shoots is cool as hell, but all of these only hold 8 rounds and just don't shoot as naturally as the Glock.

We hired a mercenary to service the machine gus at the shop I worked at in athens...He said a pistol was useful to shoot back to where you left your rifle.

I remember when we first went into iraq, We were all drawn down on some "sheep herders" about 400 yards out cause they were acting suspicious. There we are about 150 marines on line with rifles aimed in and as I am setting lateral limits for my guys I look down the line and near the other end theres this MORON in the sitting position with his 9 mm (Obviously a staff nco or an officer) pulled resting on his knee aiming in about that time someone else, obviously higher rank or atleast smarter than him ran out and said something to him they both then ran back and took cover behind the convoy.
Some people are scared of guns...... I am scared of people

I gotta sound off for my P226, and i must say, the M9 is in my experience unreliable at best.  The military is having terrible problems with them in the sandbox.  The army tank brigades have switched over to sig pros.  DHS now has sigs, FBI, countless law enforcement agencies, Navy Seals, who by the way according to my best friend (who is in Seal Team 1 Charlie platoon) have had no problems whatsoever with their SIG P226's in the sandbox or even diving with them.  Ill take one any day.

General carry is a HK USP .45 fullsize,
for tossing in my pocket or when I need to conceal completely in very hot weather, it's a Colt

Detective Special

To replace the Detective Special when I'm confident that it will work every time a Kahr CW9. Kahr reccomends 200 rounds to break it in.  I've shot about 120 with few that didn't fully seat.  Might have been the ammo though.

I really like my Ruger GP100 in .357magnum, but I don't carry or shoot it much.

And of course the most shot at the range is the Ruger 22/45.  Easy to shoot, and cheap to shoot.

Im not the original poster, but Sellier and Bellot makes new production Tokarev ammo - I think they offer hollow point.
