I finished my SAR-1 today.  I’m very pleased with how it turned out.  I stripped and refinished the furniture, polished the bolt, added a muzzle break, fixed the cant and finally painted the whole thing.  I also added a G2 FCG and a SAW grip.  Thanks to Duke for the business and a special thanks to Apache659 for sending the recoil pad.  Also, props to everyone here at AR15 for answering my questions.

The photos really don’t do it justice.  The fine details in the paint and the furniture are outstanding.  I used Aluma-Hyde II on the barrel and reciever and finished the furniture with Minwax Bombay Mahogany.

I’m going to take out my frustrations on some innocent fruit tomorrow.  I can’t wait. http://www.smashbandits.com/rig/AKATF2.jpg

Looks great!

Well except for the FAL grip and recoil pad.

Just kidding. When I first picked up my SAR1 in the funstore I figured the pistol grip would have to go right away. But after shooting it I really like the standard AK pistol grip. And the short buttstock doen't bother me at all. But I'm not you. You have to go with what you like. And you've got a good looking rifle there. No joke. Enjoy it.
