I looking into a Milled 74. I know the choice of milled receivers in 5.45 is limited. Are the MLS99 receivers good quality?

Called Firing Line today. They won't have any milled 5.45 receivers until April of 2007 (they do have side folders instock). CRAP!

Having handled a few of their milled side-folders -- go for it. Nothing wrong with having a '74 with a sidefolder. Hell, if you can get an AK-100 series stock it won't feel any different. Here's one I have in 5.56:

I had the opportunity to fire a full auto milled receiver AK-74 of theirs too and boy that felt good.

I've got them building me a Krink on one of those receivers now.

Are there any milled 5.45 kits out there?

I was under the impression that you can build a 5.45 kit on either a stamped or milled. Am I wrong?

As long as the reciever is a press and pin and the trunnion (built into the receiver in this case) is milled out to accept a 5.45 barrel. Has to be 23mm IIRC as opposed to the standard 22mm for 7.62x39. Also, the bullet guide is different, as are the rails, of course, the bolt carrier, too, so the internal rails would have to be machined different. I've seen it done before, though, so I know it is possible.

I have a milled 5.45 74 built on one of the few ORF receivers. The gun is just great, feels like a solid .22 cal in your hands. The side fold firing line receiver would be "da bomb" especially with the solid folding stock.

The AK 100 series stock on a firing line will be worth more than a solid stock anyway. I am quite sure that that is the way I would go.
