I think I would,I'd much rather have this one with an Israeli made reciever than anything built from a kit on a US made reciever.
Nice gun....
Though I can remember buying my Galils (1 ea .223 AR, and 1 ea NIB .308 ARM) for only a couple hundered more each... But that was 1998. |
That's a good price.
As others have said....it's a real IMI receiver and you can't really buy the parts and receiver for that money anymore. |
It's a nice looking gun, to me though, Galil's just look better with a folding stock. EDIT...thats what I get for not reading the ad, I'd say go for it
it comes with one. |
All the 55gr you can get ahold of. Its not that big of a deal.
Yes, standard .223 rem loads are all 55gr.. The 62 grain stuff is normally allot more expensive or harder to find. |
Man, you got ripped off! I bought my Galil AR .223 in 1987 for $750. |
It's a .223? Darn. I was interested if it was 7.62 |
this one also havs the backwards selector though. Forward to safe. Any way to switch that?
I'm sure there is but the military Galils had the selector set up that way. |
yeah I brought that up before. the improted ones they fixed. go figure. I'm guessing that with the 89' ban, the sporters were different than regular civilian versions.... kind of like, we'll do what we have to to bring these in, but we can do it with military style parts instead now.... also maybe that reduces teh foriegn parts count cause the hinged selector could be more? I've read about this but never found an answer..... |
A real Galil is very high on my list if I ever have the cash to become a collector. If it's the real deal, then the price is good. If I had the cash, I'd buy it, but I don't .
I've never seen a semi Galil with the military selector, sporter or otherwise. Looks lika a parts gun to me. What does the other side of the reciever say?
It is a parts gun. IMI receiver witha new 1/12" twist barrel and the US parts needed. Still a good price if it was put together correctly. |
yeah, it's a sporter converted to regular config. looks nice thgouh... |
That's the key. Galil's can be tricky to barrel and headspace properly. For $1600 it'a a steal if you want a shooter not a collector. |
barrel was put on by Piece of History Firearms in Tucson - any good?
They've got a good rep for building AK's. They have their own forum on the MIGETA (K-Var and Arsenal Inc. forum) and John wouldn't let anyone on there that wasn't top notch. |
Are you going to buy the Galil or am I going to have too? Just kidding, but if you don't secure it,someone will!
my only concern is the lack of night sites and the fokokt left side selector. Looks nice, was done by good people, seller is VERY good in terms of emails, so the stars are aligning. I've budgetted myself 3K for new toys this month and I'm trying to fit in a V93, this galil, and either a PTR or a Kimber grand Raptor. tough decision coming I tellz ya! |
yeah? seems the 93 is lighter, no? vector doesn't hold up? |
I absolutelyfuckinghate cleaning a roller locking delayed blowback weapon based on the Vorgrimmler system. I've had 2 HK 91's and 3 quality clones thereof and they are the worst clean up I've ever experienced. You think an AR is dirty, that it throws shit back in the receiver??? Try a system that flutes the chamber so that the spent case is floated on the gasses and when the bolt opens it blows the case out, with the gasses and carbon right back into the action. At least with an AR the upper is reasonably easy to clean. The HK system doesn't make it easy to get in there and clean it. The saving grace is that the action is very reliable. It works when dirty. Now, a 9mm version isn't too bad since there isn't that much carbon, but a rifle caliber.....no thanks. The only negatives I've heard about the Vectors is that some of the receivers have tight mag wells. Yes the HK system looks cool and is reliable, but man I hate the clean up. Give me a Kalashnikov. |
There may be one out there, but I have'nt seen a 93 clone with an HK spec reciever. All of the ones I've seen had tight mag wells and the buttstocks don't seem to slide with HK precision. No doubt about it,I'd go Galil. The night sites are a minor issue.
Very minor issue. Go with the Galil. |
I hear you. Just too damned tempting at 999$ for a new vector v93. ...... and yeah they look cool. 'specially next to my hk94. |
If you go the V93 route,I know a quick fix for the tight mag well, but I'm still recommending the Galil!
Wooden block and mallet? |
And the congregation says "Amen!" |
My 223 collection thus far AR 16" (tripower, aimpoint 3x), AR 18" (IOR 2-12), KKF M17s (Acog), SAM-5 (kobra), and now the Galil (iron sights only for this desert fighter). It's gonna be hard to resist a HK or V 93 to round out the collection.
Good thing you are, I was tempted hard! But I'm going with a FA need to save the pennies! |
we've got a problem... I found a real 308 galil 329 AR .308,rare Springfield import perfect condition (pics agree!) in original Spingfield green box with 1 mag for under 2500$.....
I think I'm about to get 2 galils... is this a good price? |
Hell yes it is. I sold the 329 that I had for $2750.00 last year with a lot of rounds through it. Buy, buy, buy, buy!!!!! |
I'm gonna lose alot of weight becasue of you! no eating fror the next month. |
there was the infamous one hanging in charlottesville for years on consignment for over $3500.....owner finally came and got it off consignment.....everyone shit themselves.."who bought the $3500 galil?" asked 100 times a day for months |
