If it looks like these then it's just where they smoothed out the mold marks. I don't think it is indicative of any particular time period though, just indicative of when the particular mold they were using was getting worn and letting too much flash form on the grips.

That is exactly it. Thanks. I have two, one that does have it and the other does not. I guess the one that does is an older mold. |
