I shot all mine, just before the 'shortage' started....

I have some 70grain 5.45 ammo...in white boxes and blue lettering....about 100 rounds worth of that type.

I was always kinda interested in 5.45 an the AK74.  Early this year I bought 2 Bulgarian kits (1 plum and 1 wood) and had the built up on OOW receivers.  I wasn't completely happy with them (couple little nitpicky things I haven't got around to fixing, they do go bang every time I pull the trigger) and wound up getting 2 Arsenal SLR-105A1s.  I had ordered my first 750 rd case of Barnaul from Dan's thinking it was 60 gr. and it turned out to be 55 gr HP.  I kept it (seemed to shoot ok in the guns) and ordered 4 cases from militaryshooters.com and when that turned out to be 60 gr FMJ I got 2 more cases.  Something just told me to stock up on a supply of  this caliber.  After Feb. I never saw anymore Barnaul FMJ online reasonable and then later never saw any at all.  But I got lucky.  Walked into a local shop a few months ago and they had a 2100 rd case of Barnaul FMJ for $210 out the door (stuff was in the red/yellow boxes form about 1999) and said they might get a little more.  Checked later and got a partial case of 1260 rds.  With about 8500 rds I feel I'm set for awhile as I only shoot about a box or two per session.  My main stash of 7.62x39 is a 1500 rd case of Lapua and two 1400 rd cases of South African.

Zero Barnaul, but 20rd of Wolf.  Actually, the availability of this ammo is what led me to the decision to sell my 74.  It may be available in vast quantities again, it may not.  But I feel pretty certain that 223 will always available.

There is to many people wanting 5.45 in this country for someone not to notice and supply it...
I  cant  find a good source for XM193 or Q3131 5.56..And 7.62 isn't really any easier to find (At a good price ) So all ammo is kinda scarce right now.

I have about 5 ~ 5500 rounds of both Barnaul and "made in Romania" 5.45. Bought it all back in the mid-90's. The Romanian and one case of the Barnaul is in tins. One other case of Barnaul is in cardboard.

But now that I've bought and am building all these 74 kits..........I'll need more, MORE I TELL YOU!!!!!!!!

Exactly, with all the Bulgarian and Polish 5.45mm kits, the popularity of this round has really increased. We'll see more 5.45mm but it's not going to be cheap, at least I don't think it will be.

About 1K.  Yeah I know that sucks and I will be stocking up next year.  I say that now, but if some of the guns that are rumored to hit the market in 06, then I'll have to buy them and that will cut into my ammo money sharply.  It never ends and that is a good thing.
