I just recently picked up a Vector AK-47, built on a OOW/ITM receiver. Problem is the receiver cover is too short, or the receiver itself is too long. Creates a gap between cover and receiver, and after roughly 8 shots the cover is jarred loose and sits at a 75 degree angle to the receiver.

I was looking through other topics and I saw some mention of this "gap", seems fairly common for the OOW/ITM receivers. I didnt find any topics addressing how to fix the problem, so I came here.

Anyways, if I had access to welding tools I would just add an 8th of an inch to the receiver, but unfortunately I dont have access.

So does anyone know of a receiver cover that is an 8th of an inch longer then the ribbed cover that comes with OOW/ITM receivers (looks like possibly a romanian or hungarian cover). If I had a longer cover I could file the cover down to fit.

Any help would be appreciated.

A couple of things - assuming the cover has not been shortened. From what I've seen, they're all the same length. You can bow the backside whre it fits into the tang - I've seen several done this way - or you weld a strip of metal across the back to lengthen it. Make it look good by wraping the sides a tad......get a photo of a Valmet cover - they make theirs this way.....

Thanks TerryG3, for whatever reason I hadnt thought of just bending/reshaping the cover. I'll give it a try.

Thanks again.
