for all you posers who think i am joking check out this model i did in like 5 minutes. notice the realistic shading and weathering.  most computers have difficulty even displaying a picture like this.  dont blame me if your crap ass box blows up when you try to view my artwork, you needed a new video card anyway.

OMG I need to get 3ds, Played with milkshape, and played a little with O2(for OFP buffs) and like modelling, That tank had to take forever.
I will tell you what the biggest flaw is with your AK...    There arent a bunch of dents in it, there isnt grease, oil, and cheap commie laquer all over it, and when you get the barrel and sight post on there make sure its canted!

btw spaceman, you not only owe me for a new Apple2E, I need to get my eustachian tubes replaced from trying NOT to spit all over my monitor (which I failed)

Roman, the textures and detail are beautiful.

Well, I guess there is no need in asking you to import it into operation flashpoint.  It would bring the FPS down to one per hour.

is that an AKM magazine or an AK74? I thought the AKM was a 7.62x39 right? that looks like the AK74 mag though...
The stock looks awesome, and so does the rear sight post. Im trying to give you a bit of constructive crticism so it looks completely real. I would like to see more CG look as real as possible.
I was thinking something about the reciever breaks from looking real. at first glance it looks completely real...
Im thinking adding a bit of a gloss affect to the reciever may change it.
After studying it I think you may be at the mercy of the engine itself. Your skill is absolutely astonishing. The stock looks perfect. I think primarily because of its round edges. I think if you choose a background like the one you have, but remove the large voids of single colors it will break up the perfect lines of the object, creating an illusion of imperfection.
Incredible job. I love your tank project and I have this to say: If you buy a model tank and put it together it looks just like that without paint, just a textured block with a single color flat finish. I seriously looked at the pictures trying to figure out if thats just a model you took a picture of... amazing.

Also Heavy Metal I thought about OFP (flashpoint) when I first saw this. If you have ever played around with oxygen... it sucks, it gives me a huge appreciation for roman's skill.  BTW let me know if you ever want to play OFP, especially when OFP2 comes out... (like 2006... *groan)

Nope, the one you nabbed is almost 4x the number of polygonal faces as RussianKaliber's model, has a folding stock, a bayonet, a sling ... etc etc

And what good are all those faces when they aren't textured properly!!!! That $45 3d model that the other guy did is 'neat' but far from worth it in my not so humble opinion.  The mag dimples are from new AK100 series guns! So it the selector lever!  THe textures suck on the wood and plastic parts! HE used the old style gas blocks in both models even though he was trying to show differences in the features..  What the hell is with the huge number on the bolt carrier??? Is that his social security number or something???  Serial number should be 6 small digits stamped on late model AKMS bolt carrier.  This other guy is definately talented, but needs to do more research for his work next time.
On the other hand,  Roman knows that polygon count is important, but that textures are just as important.; it shows in his final product....you are not counting polys, you are marveling at the realisitc skins.....and he has PLENTY of polys for proper relief, shadowing, and lighting effects to bounce off of. Good work Roma!

(yes I know there is no primer, I havent made it yet, I'm busy with school)

NB: I did this with a raytracer rather than a 3d modeller
