yeah...up at 4am, it's pouring rain and foggy as all get out...picked up my mother-in-law at 5:20am (i know what yer thinking...sounds like a nightmare already..doesn't it?!?!) and headed for the mall with the great unwashed masses.

BUT...

we were going GUN-SHOPPING!!!

first stop was dunham's sporting goods in da mall. hmmm...i hope she didn't catch me eyeing all the cuties as we hoofed it into dunham's.

what deals! they sold every safe that was on sale in 15 minutes!! the first lady to hit the gun counter buys FOUR shotguns/rifles! the counter guy practically accuses her of a felony straw purchase! whatta maroon!

the next batter up, a gentleman about my age, orders...you guessed it, FOUR guns! among them were a yugo sks and a yugo m48 mauser for his son (his son was an avid collector and heard of this sale even while SERVING IN IRAQ!!!)

so...what did the counter guy do??? again, practically accused the guy of a felony straw sale!!!!

i started to set the counter guy straight...and mr. counter guy stated 'gifts' could only be sold to dependants under the age of 18!!!!

bewahahahaha! somebody better 'splain this deal about sarah brady and her son's 30-06!!!

'ma' and me buy a couple of slug guns...remy 870 combo express slug/shot packages. gotta pick them up latter as a damn nics system employees weren't on the job at 6:30am est!

btw, gentlemen, romy m69's and cugir single-shots were $49, saigas (20 ga. or 7.62 x 39) were $179, yugo mausers were $89, yugo sks's at $89-129.

off to wally world, where damn near every gun was on sale or price rollback (thank you!, little smiley face guy!).

got a great deal on a couple of rimfires...picked up some spare magazines...three bricks of ammo...this time the nics folks were 'in' and we cleared out. the manager toted out those eeeevil assualt rimfires. guess us peons would have caused a panic among the sweat suit-wearing fat-assed hoochiecoos out shopping for...well...whatever the hell it is that wal-mart shoppin', big-hair wearing, over-perfumed white women shop for!

as for ma and me...we got our gunz and boogied!

the sks's looked good to very good.
the mosin-nagant m1891/30's looked very good.
the mosin-nagant m44's looked good for $49.
the wire-wound 'grenade launching enfields (i can't tell a number I mark II from a number 6 chinese combo at lee ho fuk's! all them enfields just look ugly, ungainly and stodgy as anything else made in england, to me!) actually looked pretty clean. they might have been ishapore trash for all i know, but at least they looked decent enough.

german (russian capture) k98's looked decent and they even had "mitchell's mausers" collector grade m48's for something like $279.

to be avoided...the century built garand m1's!!!

subslr, check this out. wally world has the manager 'safely' carry your firearm out the door...then he stands there a bs's with me (and very knowledgably, at that!!!) about rimfires, match rifles, eley ammunition and such for 10 minutes! lol! maybe he just wanted out of that damned crowd of womenz for a fast break!!!

anyway, at dunham's at the mall, you must drive around 'back' to the loading dock to pick up your firearm purchases. you ring the buzzer and they hand you your guns like it's some back-alley deal involving a crooked cop and the local crack dealer. i guess it's politically incorrect to be seen walking thru the food court with an "old navy" bag in one hand and a long, skinny box in the other???

I missed the morning Dunhams sale for a round of golf.

and just how the hell did you get a round in? it rained non-stop from 5am untill it turned to snow.


fez, dunhams is borderline pc. they'll sell ya an ak...it just wont look like an ak! heheh! at $179, the saiga's are cheap coversion fodder or a blaster/plinker/deer rifle.

the mall i went to had 4 of the 6-bones safes on the floor and all 4 were tagged so fast i couldn't believe it. they also sold 2 or 3 of those green homak safes while i was waiting for 'ma' to fill out the 4473's.

I've negotiated leases with these a**holes over the years and some of the crap they require is unbelievable.
