from the cmp "first shots" e-zine...www.odcmp.org/1003/default.asp?page=JO  2003 Junior Olympic Precision Individual Champion was Leah Wilcox from Shelbyville, Kentucky, High School. Wilcox fired a 1278 total score. She accepted a scholarship to shoot with the University of Texas-El Paso college team. that's right, boyz and girz. this young lady will be getting a partial or complete free ride to college because she can flat shoot that rifle! she out-shot 111 of the nation's best juniors to win that scholarship! |

that's pretty interesting.. i didn't know you could get a scolarship just from being good at shooting. btw, did you say she was your girlfriend or something?

That's nice.
A young woman who doesn't think guns are "icky." It's an old sport, probably older then most others commonly competed in. Most people seem to forget that. |

Careful guys, mentioning highschool student and shooting in the same breath here in MD will bring on the zero tolerance gestapo. I'm looking over my shoulder as I type this.

The American Rifleman had a good article this month about a team of youths, high school juniors to college sophmores who took titles at Camp Perry. One of the best articles I've read in some time. I love seeing kids doing enjoying target shooting. Just doesn't seem like the gun mags care enough about it though.
