If it is a Steyer Maddi, basically you have ruined it!

  tell him you have a steyr maadi and would like to add a left side euro optic rail. advise him that you will need replacement rivets as required. he'll take it from there.

  the installation procedure requires fairly carefull alignment and drilling of the mounting holes...nothing a drill press, a set of metric drill bits (or a very complete set of american fractional, letter and number drill bits) and a set of dial calipers can't handle.

 then, it's simply a matter of riveting the rail in place using a hammer, a rivet setting punch and a homemade bucking bar to go inside the receiver.
