You want to talk to CampyBob, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that these are VERY soft and there were many problems with B-West receivers.

Having said that, if they can be heat treated, I might be interested in one.
Link Posted: 8/3/2003 12:21:34 PM EDT
Yeah, the Bwest's do need treated...most likely. Rumor has it that some were treated, and some werent'. Good idea about Campy..he can rockwell test them at work. Try to talk him into receiving one to test and send back. I'm kinda interested in one to if they're treated, or if you can tell us what the carbon content is to properly send them out for heat treating.

take care,
Tec

Based on the serial numbers, I think your receivers were registered as pistols.
I would suggest having them heattreated then they would be ready to go.

AK-47, AK-74?

I remember hearing about some kind of issue with B-West? Anything that affects these receivers?

Hell, $50-75 for a properly hardened, 1.5mm, U.S. receiver and $100 for a new Mak90 parts kit. I would take one and build a nice Mak90 clone on the cheap, assuming that they are in the right shape to be built on.

Let me know price.

Thanks, KyARGuy

Uh 1... uh 2... Two please.
Link Posted: 8/18/2003 3:24:40 PM EDT
I'm down for 3 or 4 of them...
Link Posted: 8/18/2003 3:30:40 PM EDT
If the price is right I will take two. This is assuming that they do not warp during the heat treating.
Link Posted: 8/18/2003 4:26:24 PM EDT
Depending on the price, I may be in for one as well. After my Romo kit gun, I'm up for building another AK....may be a long barreled Krink with chinese bits or...hmm...too much to consider. Always liked the look of the Legend.

I think it would be great to take one of these and build it up with a pre-ban Chinese barrel assembly with cleaning rod retainers into a high-quality Type 56 clone. You could easily come out with a better rifle then the Chinese pre-ban originals for much less, and be short only a bayo lug.

If only I wasn't going to be broke for some time now (school).

Excellent!

Wasn't sure if you were rationing them, 1 per person, or...

Can I get sequential serial numbers??

Thanks again!

Denny, you mentioned that these are cut for the chinese receivers - you mean the holes for rivets, and front and rear trunnion - can you take photos?

How are they marked, besides sn#'s?

I'd really like to see a picture if possible. BT

Denny, any info regarding this?

Thanks.
