Screws are OK...if you have the equiptment or are having someone else build it for you, do the rivits. I used Home Depot stainless for my AK project, built it in my own shop. It shoots as well as any SAR, but if I had the time/equiptment/money i'd have done rivits, they just look better.

i have a friend that built a pmds 7.62x39 krinkov. now, this gun is a jackhammer!
he's put tens of thousands of rounds thru it and it's holding up just fine. and it's screwed together. other that for purposes of authenticity it has naver been proven that rivets are superior to screws. screws are an easier method of assembly for the home/hobby builder. 3 years ago, when i built a screw-together krink for the internet to see how it was done (my first screw-together mac-90 was done in 1995 or 1996) who would have believed that someone would be selling the screw kits on ebay!!??!! |

I had one gun that used rivets for authenticity, the rest are screwed together. Grade 8 heat treated screws are better than mild steel rivets in my book. They look good too.

My Krink was made by ORF using screws that they weld over on the heads to look like rivets... Damn fine looking weapon.
