I keep thinking about getting one of these. Seeing these pics makes me think I should do it.

Based on the 400 rounds I put thru it yesterday it's the nicest shooting AK I've owned.

Also uses a common round

Was messing with sling hardware...

Fin:  Get some circle 10's, I don't have any experience with Beryls, but I've heard good things...if I can find some on the cheap, I will definitely give them a go.
Why that horrible PG?

What, pray tell, is horrible about the Yugo-surplus pistol grip?

How long will that thing actually stay stock, and black.

This one is staying black

And stock for the most part - the triangle shipped today and I'll have plum, wood, and black handguards to play dress up.

The AR's are my paint fodder

Why that horrible PG?

I actually prefer the Yugo grip.  It's wider than the stock, the grip around the thumb web is shorter and I can get a higher hold.  I wear a Med glove, so YMMV.

Sorry I just thought it was strange you would put that grip out of every other choice on your rifle.  If you like it, that's great!

Here's a pair of Aces.  The top one is relatively new and late production.  The bottom is an earlier one but is very smooth.  I wish I'd left the mags in for pics

There's a couple there that aren't mine - I didn't feel like lugging everything down to Alabama this morning.

Got a video? I'm interested since the PAP shorites have somewhat of a tighter gas system than other AKs due to the lack of gas block vents. Were you able to use the FSB threading or did you have it cut back?

Also is that Wildbill shim kit?

No video yet. I test fired it today and it was denting brass mid-casing so I'm assuming it's a little over-gassed with the can.

The M85 cannot have the FSB threads cut back like the M92 as the gas system is .5-.7" longer so there is no barrel underneath. I used the M26 threads on the FSB but I may in the future have the barrel swapped out for a longer one so that I can use a 1/2-28 adapter instead.

Yes it is a wildbill shim kit.

I have seen AKBLUE over on AKfiles swap in a Bulgarian 23mm 16" 5.56 barrel assembly into an M85NP receiver. These are short lug barrels so it's a direct swap.

Checking furniture & mag fitment on 5.56 AK-74 build before final riveting & component pinning.
Feed & ejection check passed full 30 rounds /w Beryl magazines. Mags rock solid.
I did lightly file 5.45 bolt extractor shelf to get a tighter grab on 5.56 rim, but probably not needed.
Matching serial postfix #666

Still about only 90% done with this build.. Not much time in life for stuff like this. But made a short demo video of the 5.56 AK-74 yesterday when I found some time to get out and blast some paper.
Sorry can't embed.

I know this is a photo thread but I need help. I am looking at buying a 556 AK. It is a Bulgarian kit on a Waffen Werks receiver. The issue is that he has no mags for it. East German mags don’t fit and i am looking at a Canis Adaptor for it.
