Very nice, Chinese AKs just stand out from the pack, but I've been bitten by the chicom bug.

I bought this one yesterday at the local gun show.   It had already been converted with the Chinese stock/grip.  Debating doing a Spiker conversion which I'd love to have. Just not sure if it's worth the time, and money to get it done.

At minimum I'd love to find some Chinese handguards that match that Chinese stock/grip set.

I bet one of the wood / stock refinishing houses could match the front to the rear.

All that I know I've learned from sticking around this place

Z-recto on theakforum would be my first shot, if not I'd shoot an email to the combloc customs guys and see what they say on matching it.

Really appreciate the info as I debate what route to go with this project.

I joined that AKforum a few months ago so it shouldn't be a problem to reach out when the time comes.

Few coats of amber shellac will darken and "orange up" the handguards.  You should be able to get them pretty close

Thanks! what I find odd is that out of all the sticks in the safe, the KISS ones are my favorites. Not always the most practical (no lights, optics, etc..) but so simple they are great.

The "Chechen" stock set is honestly what sets it off, had a clean Russian set on there and it looked too pretty .

For what was it $80 - it made the rifle.

I agree 100%, that furniture makes the rifle.  It's awesome.

SLR-107CR SBR with Triangle stock and Bulgy wood handguards

And the SLR-107CR that I AR-ified..... I pulled the whole front end and installed a 14.5" JMac barrel, 90 degree Bulgy gas block, and Occam Defense MERC handguard.  I replaced the original stock with a JMac Mod2 M4 adapter and installed a BCM stock.

I just switched the furniture to plum on my SLR 107FR.  The upper handguard made me say so many bad words that I had to start making up new ones to say.  Hindsight... I should have run a thin bead of grease on the ends where it would twist into place easier.

nice! Just put the back of the tube in a vise and twist old off, twist new on. Grease may have helped some though.

This is what I came up with, some Russian made Zenitco parts: B33 receiver cover, B31C upper rail, B30 lower rail and RP-2 cocking lever, then some MagPul parts: CTR stock, AK MOE grip and AFG2. Just couldn't find a folding stock that was both practical and reliable, so fixed stock it is, for now being.

I've got a number of them, but this is the only one I have a picture of. Strangely enough, it's also the only one that's been "tacticooled." I thought it was appropriate for an HD/SD gun.
All the rest are unmodified.

Yes it is.  I've thought about swapping it for something else, but it's a nice grip.

The shiny one is a Romanian AKM grip. The duller grip is the fat polish grip.
