Oh, just giving you a hard time.  There seems to be a lot of chatter on this in Ammo forum and AK general forums.

No hard feelings?

it is very simple, there have been a lot more people owning AK's in the past year or so and the ammo is being hoarded by a lot more folks. the dealers and importers see this and start to "set" on there huge stockpiles that they have for sale. they raise the price and make everyone think that there is a shortage. then everyone freaks out and runs out to buy every last round that they can find. the dealers love this as they are now selling the same ammo for 2-3 times more than normal and are making a fortune. all this is BS in my book and until everyone realizes this there will be high prices and the "shortage". as long as people panic to try to snatch up every last round of 7.62x39 then the prices will stay high. also, the importers/dealers will not release as much of it at a time so that everyone still thinks that there is a shortage thus keeping the prices high and they will get higher. after this has gone on for a good while and everyone gets used to paying the higher prices then the ammo will again flood the market but the prices will not drop very much. it is the greedy getting richer because of the public's freaking out on a "shortage" of what they want that will end the way of buying reasonably priced bulk 7.62.

everyone that stockpiles ammo has the power to keep these things from happening but they do not care. that's ok because one day there ammo will be all gone and they will have to pay the higher prices to stock it back up, what goes around comes around. if everyone would go for one month without buying any 7.62x39 then the prices will start to go back down dramatically, but i'm sure that this would never happen. greed spoils it for most and makes life easier for a few, it's just the way it is.

one day people will learn

that is exactly what it is, just like the whole gas price thing.

and just like the gas, it looks like cheap prices on ammo. are a thing of the past and we all have no one to blame but ourselves.
