Russkie stuff, is it halfway decent? 7.62x39 or should I pass?

I've shot 1K of the stuff.

Never a problem.

Then again, I've never suffered a problem with any 7.62*39 in my AK's

Good stuff.  Have shot plenty full auto and functions perfectly.

Thanks, bought 1K of it. $125 but no other 7.62x39 was at the show.

Vympel factory production IIRC.  I like it better than Wolf too, and with availability and prices what they are, that's not a horrible deal.

I have shot thousands of rounds of that ammo and have never had a problem, I look for that ammo when I need it for my AK

I prefer Golden Tiger to Wolf. Its more accurate and appears to be hotter/better ammunition.
Its closer to actual military ammo, if not identical, than Wolf. I just bought two cases of Wolf 123grn FMJ's yesterday and I would trade a case for Golden Tiger. Anyone know where I can get some more Golden Tiger?

Shot eight boxes thru my SKS with no problems.

When sportsmans guide had golden tiger about 4-5 months ago, I bought a pack of 500 rounds and I regret it... Only because I didn't get a full 1,000 round case...  If I saw it for sale anywhere at a reasonable price, I would buy it in a second. I love golden tiger because its cleaner and a little more accurate than wolf  (dont know why though, maybe because its boattailed?) but usually sells for the same price or sometimes even a little cheaper than wolf.

I thought it was supposed to be dirtier than Wolf?

Both Wolf and Golden Tiger are FMJ-BT. Supposedly the Golden Tiger is made at the newest, most advanced ammunition plant in Russia; meaning the powder could be measured more accurately and on top of that they could push the pressures higher as there is less of a chance of an overpressure load.

Thanks all, bought a case of it. We'll see how it shoots.

Like many of us, I have more than one AK variant.  Some of mine give smaller groups with Golden Tiger and some with Wolf.  I simply test each rifle to determine what shoots the best.  Overall I found that Golden Tiger shot better in more rifles than Wolf.  This is in 7.62x39.

I have never come across Golden Tiger 5.45x39 where I could buy some of that to try.  In 5.45x39, overall, Barnaul shot tighter than Wolf.  But since Barnaul is so hard to get, I use Wolf for plinking.

I also prefer golden tiger... its more accurate out of my AK than anything else I've tried.  Wish I could get a couple cases of it.
