Just an FYI, SG has the 640 round HP Wolf spam cams for $54.97 ($52.22 if a member). They won't ship until February, but I'll wait.
The price on the web site comes up 74.97 but will drop by $20 per can if you use the right stock number.

The item number is AX5A-78159. Order 2 ($104.44) and get $10 off, 3 and get $15 off, etc. by using certificates as listed www.sportsmansguide.com/section/section.asp?s=2993#top  .

-Just make sure your's will feed HP. Every hicap I've ever used will, but...

Beware!
When you get the e-mail backorder notice the price will be corrected to the new higher price!
That happened ot me when I recently used a link posted here for 1000 rnd cases of Wolf fmj from them.
It processed my order fine at the old low price. But when I got the backorder notice a few days later, the order number was correct but the price had been updated! It also said I had to write or call to keep it on order or they'd cancel it.
Their system will process orders based on out of date stock numbers. But it looks like they correct it later before billing you.
Still, with the coupon and membership it was the best price in town even at  the new higher price. So I told them to keep the order active.

My backorder notice came in correct.

The bad thing is that SG has a "system" (loosly used term) that cycles through undelivered orders every 30 days. If you have an item on their backorder (I have 2 of the 10-packs of AK mags on order) you have to reconfirm the order every month. I agree, it's a pain, but as you have said, there really isn't another game in town right now...

I have the loader set up, just need about 500 pieces of 7.62x39 brass to get started...

Fuzzy, would there happen to be an old item number for those 10-packs?

I just called my order in and they sold it at 54.97. I reccomend that so you can get a name comf. numb. and exact total with shipping. That way if they change it you have all the imformation and can talk with a manager. I got 3 shipped for 168.37.

My SG order from the middle of Dec shipped today.  Three cans of 7.62X39 and one case of 5.45 in FMJ.

The 5.45 didn't make it, just two confirmations on the 7.62

mountain guy:
Are you talking about the 10 packs of the 30 round european AK mags?  I don't know if they are even taking orders for them, but if they are you will have to call their customer service line an place a phone order. They haven't been listed on the web since early November.

If they can be ordered, it's worth a try. The information is listed below:
------------------------------------------------------------
Description:                  Used Ak-47 Mag 10pk
Product:                       HX5A2-92951
Back-Ordered, Expected 02/01/06
Quantity:                      2
Unit Price:                     $22.47
Unit Tax:                      $0.00
------------------------------------------------------------
Hope this helps you out!

Yall really buy 7.62X39 in HP? It serves no purpose other than causing the possibility to jam.  I never buy the HP.

To Fuzzy, thanks for the heads up. Just ordered the HP- and got two cans for $98.94. $13 or so for shipping. I renewed a membership, and could not get the coupon as they give me two $10 coupons or $20 off next buy, so will save that for the next order to cover shipping.
On my receipt they stated expected availability Feb 13. Would have ordered more but budget and all. I usually am in the AR forum, and was kind of shocked to hear some do not like the HP. With a group of around 6 of us with an assortment of AK and SKS's none have had any problems with HP. I mixed a batch of Chinese, Barnaul, Wolf, and PMC one time, FMJ and HP and no problems ever. The HP is a must when knocking down some of our hogs- they open up dramatically when they hit bone. I do not use it on deer- too much damage.
IMOP- 2 cents and all.

AWSAR:  Just make sure that IF they do place it on backorder that the price doesn't change. SG will probably place it on back order, but I can wait. The price is worth it!

I'm usually lurking on the AR side too, but have been pulled to the dark side by the kit builds. I like the accuracy of the AR's, but like that the AK's are less expensive to build and the caliber is legal to hunt with.

Have Fun,

Not bad just over one month. I received mine Friday after 9 weeks. Ordered 6 more because I figured it would take them even longer this time around. $313.00 to the door. May see them sooner then I figured.

WTH are ya talking about? These are for AK's, not Ar's. Hell, not even my AR jams with Hornady TAP JHP's.

Called last night. All out of Wolf......whether HP, or FMJ, or SP..........HP can of 660 will be back Feb 1st from what the man told me. HP in 1000 crate in Mar. FMJ in can 660, and case 1000 in June.

All on backorder.

They seem to not sell the cans as fast. Most people want cases.

Ordered 3 "spam" cans of 640 each 12/15/05, supposed to ship 2/1/06. If you use the above product code the price has changed within the the last week to $74.97 from $54.97. I called them yesterday and they said they will honor the price that was listed when I placed my order.

Sportsman's Guide certainly has an interesting business model.  They seem to have 10 different stock #'s for the same item, at a huge range of prices.  It makes you wonder if their warehouse has the different stock #'s inventoried seperately as well.    Either that, or they realize this situation and are trying to cater to rubes and savy buyers at the same time.

Bingo!  You've figured it out.  I was buying these spam cans for $45 (Buyer's Club email special #) for months and months until they finally killed the part #.
