I am going to buy 1000 rds. of 7.62x39 ammo for my AK and would like to know the best dependable place to buy it. I was going with sportsman guide but read some of the bad reveiws and now don't know? Has anyone bought from centerfiresystems.com? I don't want to be waiting 2 months for the stuff. I would like 500 rds in a sardine can and 500 rds boxed.

I just got a sealed can from cheaper than dirt and they were pretty fast. Everyone is a little low or out of 7.62x39 right now. Well at least of the imported stuff.

Never bought ammo from centerfire, but i'vebought other things and never had a problem. Bought lots of things, including 2K of ammo recently from SG. Never had a problem there either. If either site has ammo in stock I think you can buy with confidence.

SG usually lets you know if the ammo is on backorder - backorder ETA will show up in your cart after you add the ammo.

Looks like all the Wolf is on backorder right now - says the $75 640 round sardine cans of 122gr HP will be in Dec. 15th . Might wait and see if it shows up.

I received my shotshells from Centerfire before my check even arrived to them.
So far I havent had a problem with S.G or Centerfire and have done so several times.

I don't really need any more 7.62x39 right now, but 1280 rounds for $110 shipped (member discount & $10 coupon) is too good to pass up. Backorder isn't an issue for me.

Bowser, poke around the ammunition forum a little bit. You will see lots of threads related to the subject.

The general consensus seems to be just general supply shortages for no particular reason. There is always large worldwide demand for 7.62x39mm ammo, and USA commercial sales are not the first priority for companies like Barnaul. This, combined with the holiday season have helped create shortages.

So does nobody know anywhere to buy 500 rounds of cheap 7.62x39mm ammo right now? Or are you just keeping it to yourselves?

I've checked just about every ammunition seller I could find through google. I just got a new red dot I need to get sighted in, and this has been a very disappointing development.

I called Sportsman Guide just now. All the 7.62x39 in the sardine cans are on back order until Dec. 15. I gave them the Item number AX5A-78159 that someone on here said was $54.97. It is now $74.97.

If you go to the wesite it's still $54.97. Use a coupon and 2 cans $98.00 before shipping.
Almost as good as the Cabela's 1000 for $79.00 earlier this year.

Yeah, it's almost like they forgot to update the price on the website. I got a catalog that had it at the higher price with a different item number (same HP spam can). Get it while it's cheap.....

yep when you run a search online the higher priced link comes up. the $55 link is from their '05 spring shooters catalog, everything has gone up since that issue but the prices are still good if you run the item number from the catalog.

For anyone that recently ordered from SG you better call to confirm. I just got off the phone with them and my 1000rnd order placed on 12-1 that was supposed to ship yesterday is now on backorder until February 13th. I canceled and hopefully can find some somewhere sooner.

Thanks for the Sportsmans Guide tip, I just ordered 2 cans online and with my buyers club discount and the $10 off shipping coupon they just e-mailed me I got the 2 cans for $109 shipped ! ya it says backordered until 12/15 but I can wait an extra few days for a good deal.

You should have left it on backorder AND tried to find some to shoot in the meantime

Hey 97guns, how long are the prices good out of that 05 shooters catalog? Just wondering cause I'll bet the SG is counting the days till they can raise the price.....

Thank you very much for the link. Second time i order the same product... I'm very satisfied with Wolf Ammo.
Plus, I just put a Romanian kit together and only put 150 rounds thru it. That is a crime!

I believe I will NOT shoot this can and store it in case ammo dries up completly for a while.

I ordered 1k on the 1st. Shipping is now delayed untill the 31st. New orders added to cart say available 3/13, but the 640 I just ordered for $52.22 delivered, is supposed to be on 12/25. Maybe I'll order more. It's cheap enough and if something better comes along I can always cancel. Thanks for the tip on the spam cans. For those who can't wait I talked to KY Imports 2 days ago and they have 1k in stock for $119 and ammoman has it for $139 shipped.

My back order on 762 x 39 was moved from December 15 to December 30 via email today. Of course it had the usual dates may change disclaimer. IE we have no fn clue.
