I learned in the bad way that 95% of online gun-related shops sucks. Not because the shop itself sucks, but because they are not prepared to correctly work with online customers. A phone call still works best, even if it is so non-internet age |

Sorry to hear that. I've always had good luck with Sportmans Guide. I had ammo on order for a while, long enough my CC expired, so they E-mailed me and gave a me a phone # to call. I was amazed when it was a real person's phon line, not the computer phone tree. Got the expiry date updated and they shipped promptly.

What's the process when ordering from SG?
I just placed an order for 7.62x39 sardine cans last night using an 'old' code (read cheap!) and the order went through...got the email that says I ordered and that it's on backorder until Dec 15. Do I need to call these guys or do they send any other kind of confirmation? I really don't want my order getting 'lost'. |

I just received two 640 round sardine cans from SG today. Ordered them about a month ago. $108.00 for 1280 rds. shipped to the door. ( Buyers club and $10 coupon) Well worth the wait!!!!!

Ordered 2K of Golden Tiger. I got it in 6 days. The order was delayed 1 day because I had it shipped to a different address. SG called to confirm that the shipping address was correct!

When I got home tonight, there were 2 cases of 7.62 sitting on my porch. Ordered from Sportsman's Guide 10/02/2005. Paid $75.97/1000! Woohoo, the Guide rocks!

I just received 500 rounds of MFS (Hungarian) 230gr JHP .45 Auto (brass, boxer) for $115 from SG today - ordered about 10 days ago. I've never had a problem with them, although they can be a little slow at times. They usually specify online if something won't be available immediately.

I was going to buy some from SG but plan to hold off for 2 days and see if there is any at the local funshow. That way I know I have it in hand, even if a little more expensive, and I can leave some more for the rest of you to buy from SG.
 BTW, what Wolf is on backorder at SG? I don't mind paying a little more for SP if FMJ is on backorder, or vice versa. I just want to know it is actually there in stock... |

Ordered 5.45 from SG and they shipped within a month. It is not like I am sitting with the rifle waiting to load. I think SG does a good job of customer service and least they have with me. Doesn't look like there are a whole lot of options out there at this moment.

What MIGHT have happened with your backordered order: when the backorder gets too long and bumped back a couple of times, they send out a notice that in order to keep the backorder alive, they have to hear from you or they'll cancel it. This happened with me with Hornady .17 HMR ammo back when it was hard to get. You may not have received the postcard.

I cancelled my membership with these retards !!
They jerk you around on the membership price, then try and give you coupons for 10 each and you can only use one per order min 50 !! Yeah right shove that. I can buy this ammo so much cheaper at the local shows.. They are dishonest on the phone about availabilty, I sent they a smoking email and have received my a full refund of my membership fee. Don't do business with these idiots ! IMHO |

Never had a problem with SG. Iordered a Polish underfolder kit recently and it arrived without the oil cans. I e-mailed SG to inform them and they sent me the cans within a week.

I just got made fun of in another thread for paying $140/1000 for Wolf FMJ instead of "sticking it out" for SG to finally get it in stock. I watched them push back the date twice, and finally said "F**K this" and just ate the $40 additional. Without ammo my AK will be a $400 club.  [ETA] Ammoman has Wolf FMJ for $140/1000 right now. Yes, that is dman expensive for Wolf 7.62, but at least he has it in stock. Hell, after paying over $200/1000 for XM193 that seems cheap... |

I can get the same thing local for about the same price, [ $140/1000] but sales tax whackes it up a bit. 7.62x39 not a big favorite in my area. My local supplier says they have plenty, so I can wait for the on-line bargins to come off of backorder. Now 5.45...... thats a different matter. I have yet to find any for sale locally. I live in Michigan so I have to take what I can get.

There's no need to insult anyone. They are a business with obvious flaws but if you call them they will most certainly fix your problem. I have had great sucess with them, plus their pricing is pretty much unbeatable on 7.62x39 ammo with cupons and everything. I cannot get ammo anywhere close to that localy.

I love the SPORTSMANSGUIDE. Never have any problems ordering from them. I got an awesome deal on 7.62X39 one year when I use the online code and joined their membership for free shipping. The total came out to be like 6 cents a round. I ordered 7 or 8 thousand rounds. It was great!

I joined SG on11-26-05 when I made an order. Payed club membership & was told I would get 2 $10 coupons. After 3 e-mails to customer service I still have NO coupons.I will be pissed if the coupon aren't $10 coupons but $10 off $99 or more. That is not what was implied. The 10 on 99 are a dime a thousand.They need to get right. I will cancell my membership if this situation goesn't get right soon. I dont see the point in paying $27? for nothing. I must admit that my orders shipped & received promptly.

I just spoke with one of the guys in customer service about my order (FOID card related issue) and he said that the computer showed they are expecting the shipment of Wolf 7.62x39 FMJ to be in their warehouse on 12/30/05, and my order should ship the next day. Hopefully my bayonet will ship tat day too!
