I got it in basically a suprise cardboard box of 762x39 at work a couple years ago. I've been holding on to it cause I've never seen it before. Anyone know anything about it?

Yes
Years ago I shot a ton of it.
Used to be plentiful.

Pretty sure it's made by Barnaul, same factory that makes Brown Bear.

Not particularly collectible but it is the first commercial, pre-Wolf, non-corrosive steel-case imported from Russia. Notice the pains they take to make sure there is no mistake; 'L.C.B.' is 'lead core, boat tail'. The military steel-core had been banned and American shooters wanted non-corrosive. It is reliable ammo but not particularly accurate. I gave all I had left of it to my son when a relative gave him a NIB MAK 90. Its mainly what he takes to the range to this day.

Just to add to the above, it was made by Klimovsk in Russia. Both Ulyanovsk and Klimovsk were the first to export lead core 7.62x39mm to the US, several years before Tula and Barnaul got into the game.

The "tear drop with ears" symbol in the bottom-center of the box is the Klimovsk factory logo. It is a stylized image of looking at the muzzle end and front/rear sights of a rifle.  It should have a factory code of "711" in the head stamp and a mid-1990's date...

Most common ammo around in the late 1990's.

Just shoot it up. It works fine.

Yes, that's from Klimovsk, not the Barnaul factory. This guy talk about it here in reply #20:

I remember that. It came is 120 round waxed cardboard boxes in a wood crate. I damn near wore out an SKS blasting with that ammo.

Yes, those white waxed cardboard 'battle packs'. Those were excellent for shooters who only kept a limited amount of ammo on hand. The battle packs were sealed and could be stored basically anywhere it didn't actually get wet. Still best to keep them in the house. Many kinds of ammo used to be at the gun shows in battle packs in those days although most of them were green plastic.
