Has anyone used or thought about using pop rivets to assemble the barrel trunion to the receiver? I'm not talking about the aluminum pop rivets at Home Depot but the stainless steel "Cherry Q" rivets available through Hanson.

http://www.hansonrivet.com/w30.htm

Some have over 1000 lb. shear and tensile strength.I do not know how the tensile or shear strength of solid rivets, but the pop rivets must be at least as strong as the drive screws some people are using.

I obviously don't know what I am doing, so please offer any input before I hurt myself.

it might work but i think you would get flamed lol

the thang most people lose sight of in there quest for a new way to build ak's
theres nothan wrong with building them correct

you can build it how it should be built with almost no tools
hammer vise punchs drill anglegrinder boltcutters and some scrap metal
now a press would be nice but you dont have to have 1

some peeps would say but its fast and easy
well i can build an ak in a couple hours i dont cause thats no fun kinda like buying a puzzle thats already done whats the point
how fast do you really want it done
