OK, I finally got one done. I kinda think it's the one that will atleast get me to a point I know what to do better on the next ones.
Basic info:
1. AMD 65 Kit
2. pistol trunnion
3. Armory USA 1.6mm Receiver, filed down my trunnions.
4. FMA Ergo grip.
5. Birdcage muzzle.
6. Hungarian tanker mag right out of the 4 mag vinyl pouch.
7. Rail mount on the side of the forward grip, surefire is there...
Remaining
1. File and reshape misshapen rivet heads.
2. Paint - just got my KPHOS and GUNKOTE!!!!
Errors
1. Egged the rear trunnion rivet holes so I smashed the heads to fill the entire space. Looks bad but its SOLID.
2. Rivet squeezer (bolt cutter) did a good job but I went in as a follow up with a piece of steel I drilled the rivet shapes in to and pressed after the fact. This deformed the heads a bit so I have to file them to get them to look good.
3. Should have indexed the barrel and the trunnion more clearly on barrel removal.
Successes
1. Barrel pin pulled and pushed using pookie bolt in the vice method with no problems, just scary for the first time.
2. Barrel removal, started as a BFH barrell removal but after some advice here used HF 20 ton and it was a breeze.
3. Barrel replacement - used really fine sand paper to lightly clean up barrel and trunnion where they press together, froze barrel, heated receiver with mounted trunnions and it pressed like BUTTAH!!!! Yes it made loud noises but it was really easy.
I really appreciate all the feedback and great info here, couldn't have done it without you. Next time I'm going to go slower and maybe remake my rivet presser.
