sonny, i know k-var has just put together some rpk-74 kits...about $800 for the kit. the kit appears to be minus the front trunnion...you might want to check that out, if you want to build a 5.45 x 39.5 rpk.
in 7.62, i'm only aware of the very worn romanian parts kits in the country. those are, for the most part, sold and off the market. doing a google search may turn up a wholesaler or retailer with some for sale. be advised! make certain you don't get snookered on a bad bore! the romy's were shot to hell, with the exception of the best kits, which got snagged up fast, years ago. good luck! |

Yep, that's what I've seen. Most of the Romanian parts kits that I've seen have had a lot of barrel wear. Still lookin' ~ hope to find someone that has a decent kit that they're willing to part with. Many Thanks, Jim |

yes, if he is interested in an rpk-74, the k-var kits are in new condition (albeit the price tag is not inconsiderable).
dangit...an $800 kit...a $600 vepr...and a ton of sweat and refinishing...and i could piece together a darn authentic rpk-74 for $1750 or so. |

Yep, I'd like to have an RPK-74 but I ain't shelling out those kind of bucks for a kit. I did find a Romanian RPK'47 with a decent bore, just got the kit yesterday and it looks pretty good. Pics of the build will be posted as soon as I get it kicked off.

Whats so special about the RPK receiver? is it thicker? outside dimentions look identical to a regular stamped receiver. Also, why would the importer remove the front trunnion from the barrel and not include it with the kit? That sounds dumb! or greedy!
