Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 12 Ton Presss Bottle Jack

All,

   My press's 12 ton bottle jack has given out. Instead of rebuilding it, should I get a 20 ton jack instead? I checked the jacks dimensions
and it'll fit in the 12 ton press chassis. Although I'm wondering if it could damage the press in anyway? Has anyone ever done this?

The press was probably designed for 12 plus a little safety margin. A 20 could really do a number on it if someone didn't realize what you did and got crazy on something. I would probably just stay with 12 to be safe.
