I think I have a 9mm vortex but the card says its for the ar15/m16. A .223 casing will almost go through the opening in the FS. Length is 2.34in and .85in diameter.

Dosent seem large enough to be for .308 or 6.8spc.

There is a 1/2" x 36 tpi 9mm Vortex and a 1/2" x 28 tpi 223 Vortex. Make sure you got the right one.

I ordered a Vortex for my FN Fal/ .308, it had the appropriate 9/16-24 LH thread with a .260 dia. bullet clearence hole which is what they use for .223.  I caught it and they sent me another, would have made an interesting first shot. Probably would have flown way downrange and I would still be wondering WTF. There is a LMG that uses what they sent me.
