Ok, on my new mid-length build, the brass ejects forward and to the right. I have read about other people having this before but no explanation was given.

The only reason I even ask is because my rifle throws the brass ahead of me and right into the grass. The rifle is: RRA mid-length barrel (profiled under the HGs)
Bushmaster A1 upper
Bushmaster lower
Bushmaster CH and BCG
Armalite 4-position stock

Any ideas how to fix/change this?

I ran the checks as well as I could without being able to remove the ejector. The rifle passed the short stroke test.(never had any problems with FTF/FTE or anything)There are no visible burrs on any of the parts and both the ejector and extractor move nicely without binding. The buffer does have the clucking sound that you described.

I have noticed that the rim of the empty brass does have a pretty good bite mark on it.

Back when I had 2 other ARs (both fixed stock 20in rifles) I swaped around BCGs and the problem stayed with the carbine.

E.T.A. I also noticed a small dent in my brass (all of them) that matched up with the rear of the ejection port. Kind of like the casing is being slamed into the edge of the opening. Do you think the ejector is working too well and the brass is bouncing off of the upper and sending it forward?

There we go. When I pull the C/H all the way back, the bolt totally disappears behind the opening. When I lock the BCG back I can see about 3/8in in the port. The buffer tube is threaded in as far as it will go without binding on the retainer. So I have to shorten the tube?

E.T.A. If I cut that much off of the tube, the stock wouldn't lock in the forward position. Could the buffer it's self be too short?

As Dano523 said, read the tacked post, specifically the one about Tweak. He won't be with us for a bit.

OOOH, sorry bout that. thought he was refering to the technical threads. I hope he didn't f-up too bad. He's is a huge asset to the site.

My honest apology Dano...i mis-understood
i think we need a icon that denotes "foot in mouth"

That would be great if you or someone else could give me that spec. I looked all over the place and didn't find it. I don't mind waiting because it will be monday before I will hear back from Armalite anyway.

OK, I've been looking at this thred several times, and I guess I have to ask because I'm new. My slabside with no deflector lands the brass about 5-7 feet away at 5 o'clock. My Bushmaster 11.5/5.5 upper with deflector puts the brass about the same distance away but at about 2 o'clock with an occasional flyer at 3. The slabside is a Colt upper with an Eagle lower, traded for it in December. The Bushmaster upper I got in a trade last month (previous owner stated he shot less than 200 rounds through it ,bought the complete rifle but broke it up for trade), bought a DPMS lower with LPK and 6 position stock installed.

Are these weapons ejecting where they should be or do I got some tuning to do?

Ok now this is getting really weird. The depth of my extension is exactly 7 inches and the buffer does have a weight in it. Could the ejection port too far forward?

It's whatever the current productin Bushmaster A1 upper is. It has the brass deflector on it.

That's my upper, I just bought it late last year. I'm pretty sure the buffer is ok. I bought the whole kit directly from Armalite. From the face to the end of the bumper is 3 1/8in.
