If I buy a new bolt for my rifle do I need to get a new bolt carrier assy. or not, is their a headspace issue here? Thanks Autogunner.  P.S. how can you tell who made your bolt, my rifle is an Oly but my carrier has a C stamped in it, I just wondered about the bolt itself?

My understanding is that the carrier can be replaced at any time without headspacing being an issue, as long as the original bolt is used.

Changing the bolt, however, does not necessarily require changing the carrier, but does require a headspacing check.

Not if you only change the carrier.

The "C" is Colt's mark. If it's a Colt bolt it will be marked "MP C".
