My buddy is a machinist and we are going to try to thread my barrell. He wanted to know what the hardness was?? any ideas? It's a Bushmaster V-match barrell.

I do alot of threading and re-profiling of barrels, i use carbide inserts on my cutting tools. If you are just going to do one or two barrels a properly ground and honed high speed steel threading tool will work fine. I have not done a rockwell test on a barrel ( i do have the equipment to do it) i think it's about the mid to high 30's RC (not very hard) HTH PATRIOT ARMORY 07 FFL

That post says mil. spec. is 28-32 (Rc I would guess)
