Dumb Question: I'm trying to get my mind right.

For a 1-7 twist; Does that mean the round rotates 7 revolutions every foot?....OR does the round rotate one time every seven feet?

I just gots to know!

One twist every seven inches.

I can't remember what the oracle says about twist rate. Just get a 1/7 twist. It is the most versatile and all of its downsides are merely academic.

Does the 1/7 throat wear out sooner than a 1/9? Can you still shoot 55 grain out of a 1/7?

The answers are: Not noticeably and yes.

lets say I want to go with a 20" barrel. Can I still shoot a heavier round like a 75 grain and/or a 55 grain bullet with 1/9 or do I need a 1/7 to shoot heavier rounds?

thanks.

+87

IMHO, the 1/7 twist is the best general purpose twist for fighting AR!

I like the 1:8 twist the best. It will do fine in the SHTF and it stabilizes any hunting load out there.
