I am changing my A2 upper to an A3 flattop upper. I am wondering if I can reuse my bolt, carrier and charging handle? I have heard that these parts should not be interchanged with different uppers. Is this correct?

Are you using the same barrel that was on the A2 ? If so no problem at all. If you are using a diffent barrel then you may want to check head spacing. Head spacing has nothing to do with the upper recivier it self. It all has to do with the barrel ext.

if its just the upper reciever itself then you are fine

Thanks for the quick replies. I am just replacing the upper, so it sounds like I should be ok. I was told that the bolt wears into the upper, and the was my concern.

The bolt wears with the barrel extension.
