That first pic sure demonstrates how cheesey the handguard extension for the MGI upper is.  Nice rifle and a nice concept, but MGI really needs to re-engineer that extension!

yeah the handguard is cheesey it really looks weird in the first pic.  However it is my understanding that they have changed it up a bit and put set scrws in so i doesnt flop around all the time ( i will be doing that to mine shortly)             I hope when you guys say  "freaky", and "different" your refering to the scope, it will be changed out hopefully soon witha  leupold.

                      THANKS    Adam

it is a trilux scope   if you do a search you should be able to find quite a bit of info on them.   It has an illuminated reticle and its a fixed 3X or 4X  i cant recall.  It has a cam that you flip on the side    so you sight in at 250 yards flip the cam and your on at 450.

Where'd you get that reticle illuminator?

I got the cheesy one from TAPCO, not worth the money.

truthfully i couldnt tell you where the illuminator came from,  it was an old scope of my dads.  All it is is a led though.            I am having problems with this sight though     its so goddamn hard to sight in     it shoots way to high but i cant lower it anymore because then it wont sit right on there so im not sure what im going to do know.
