I'm building my first AR kit and ordered from J&T. The kit arrived today and it has a Double Star barrel. The website says that the kits come with a Shaw barrel. I called J&T and they indicated that "it was a Shaw barrel, it was just marked Double Star". I have no experience nor have I really heard of this brand. Can someone enlighten me? Is it a decent barrel or a cheap knock off?

Thanks
BT

Shaw barrels are excellent quality. Best barrel you can get in a kit in my opinion.

Those barrels are made specifically for us by ER Shaw, they are marked Double Star 1-9 for use with our rifles. We've been making complete rifles for a couple of years now. Check out our webpage if you have any other questions www.star15.com. Jesse

JT Distributing people are straight shooters; I have no doubt what you got was a Shaw barrel; they're excellent, FWIW.

My new DoubleStar barrel shoots 2.5" group @ 200 yds off the bench with a 4x scope and Q3131A. Hand load 55gr. Sierra boat tails tightened the groups to less than 2". More than good enough for the local 3-gun matches.
