I put a wrench on the a-2 flash hider and a good rap did not loosen it. Its a fairly new 6721, and I do not want to risk 'clocking' the barrel and sight in the upper reciever.

If you want the proper reply.. yes. However, I removed and reinstalled my FS by sitting the barrel in my lap, using a 10" long crescent wrench on the FS and the front sight tower for leverage. My front sight tower is cast and I had no bending, flexing, etc. of any kind so I'm betting you will probably be ok.

Get the barrel vise jaws for flash hider / comp installation and removal.
