I am looking to build my first AR and was looking at the M&A M4 or CAR kits. I e-mailed them and they say that their kits ar FN. I was told the FN is the company that is making the M-16 for the goverment and wanted to know how good they are? Has anyone built one of their kits and if so could you post some comments or even some PICS? Which lower did you use?
I read that some members have been building the model1 kit which show to be cheaper in price but how is the quality.
Any info. would be great and thanks in advance.

This is any Oly stripped lower with complete M&A 16" CAR kit with mid length handguards.  Everything went together perfectly, finish on all parts is great, and this baby can shoot!!  It's my first AR so I have no others to compare it to.  Pic of completed rifle is in your other post.

I purchased the Model 1 Sales kit.  A friend just purchased the same kit from M&A and its the same quality and virtually the same kit.  The lightweight barrel kit from Model 1 is $400 and the same kit from M&A is $450.  Both of these kits look exactly alike and I could not tell a difference in quality or finish.

Here is my M&A mid-legnth 16' car kit. It sits on a RRA lower and the finish is almost identical. I have had no problem with the kit or the lower.

FN does manufacture M16's for the military, along with M60's, M249's, M240B's, the P90 sub machine gun, the Five-Seven pistol, a version of the High-Power, some bolt guns , Less-Than_letal stuff, shotguns, etc.  The manufacturing facility is here in Columbia, SC.  I am in training right now with a guy who is a production supervisor there.  These are military issue items, and many law enforcement agancies use their equipment as well.  I knowmy department issues the P90 and Five-Seven's to our SRT guys.  The P90 is really cool, buy the way.  I'm trying to get the head of the training division to let me shoot one!  [:)]

Thanks to everyone for their input. I will be attending the Southern Classic gun show in Miami on Nov. 01 and will be looking to purchase my striped lower receiver, from which I will build my very first AR! I will keep you posted, Nov. 01 seems soooo far away!

how is the five-seven similar to the high power?  isn't the five-seven the 20 shot 5.7mm bottleneck cartridge?
