I'm going to have my lower engraved and I'm wondering if I need to have the entire lower refinished, or if there's a way to just cover the affected area?

Thanks for the help..

If the lower is the color of a Rock River, or Bushie, I would use John Norrells Moly Resin in flat black. You only need a cheap airbrush and a toaster oven to do a professional job. Gun oils and solvents will not take it off once you bake it at 300 degrees F. I have done lowers, barrels, and mags. They all look fine. If you are only doing the engraved area, just mask off the rest abd have at it. You could practice on a mag first to check color, I find it a perfect black rifle match. The stuff is 21 bucks delivered to your door, enough to do 4 complete lowers, or so.
