Where can I buy a 1/2-36 re-threading die?
Preferably 1 1/2" round OD.
Thanks

1/2-36 is usually only used on 9mm AR barrels - standard AR thread is 1/2-28.

Any large tool supplier should have the die.  McMaster-Carr, Enco, Grainger, etc.

Thanks for the info. I could not, however, find a re-threading die in 1/2-36. I'm not good at this type of work. Will an original thread cutting die work to re-thread, or is it to "aggressive"?

Does anybody know what the threads on the 7.62X39 flash suppressor are?

It's been awhile since I had one, but my recollection is that the 7.62x39 barrels were threaded, by Colt anyway, the same as the 9mms.  Aftermarket? I wouldn't want to guess.[:D]

DPMS shows 1/2-36 for the 7.62.

WSAR15-- You will use a std die to chase/clean up the original threads or cut new on bare stock.

I just was to clean up some existing threads on a barrel. I also would like to extend them a tad , if practical, so I could avoid using a lock washer.

With a standard 'split' threading die, you can adjust the cut depth with a small set screw on the die if you absolutely don't want to chance cutting any new material, and just use the die as a thread chaser.
