1/2-36 is usually only used on 9mm AR barrels - standard AR thread is 1/2-28.
Any large tool supplier should have the die. McMaster-Carr, Enco, Grainger, etc. |

Yes it is for a 9mm barrel. the barrel thread need a little work and care. SBR7_11 Thanks for the info. I could not, however, find a re-threading die in 1/2-36. I'm not good at this type of work. Will an original thread cutting die work to re-thread, or is it to "aggressive"? |

DPMS shows 1/2-36 for the 7.62.
WSAR15-- You will use a std die to chase/clean up the original threads or cut new on bare stock. |

I just was to clean up some existing threads on a barrel. I also would like to extend them a tad , if practical, so I could avoid using a lock washer. |

With a standard 'split' threading die, you can adjust the cut depth with a small set screw on the die if you absolutely don't want to chance cutting any new material, and just use the die as a thread chaser.
