I bought a kit recently and should have gotten a post ban, since the upper has the bayonet lug can I just buy a new barrel post ban and install it to make it post ban? First time I bought a kit & putting it together but have to make it post so I can go to the range.

thanks for any feedback

Seems to me it would be easier to simply cut/grind the bayonet lug off and either grind/cut the muzzle threads off or have a post ban compensator silver soldered over them. This would make you compliant.

I've done this a couple times when I've gotten good deals on pre-ban upper but I needed them for post ban lowers. An easy way to do the bayo lug is to simply grind/cut the ears off.

If you don't mind spending a few bucks, get a post ban front sight assembly and save the bayonet lug for someone who needs to repair a pre-ban. Someone might trade you straight across. They are easy to come by now, but as soon as it is no longer profitable to make them, they will go the way of the dropin auto sear.
