I have an M951 on one of my ARs. I have gone through a couple bulbs, but the battery life is the thing that gets to me. Is there a decent and suggested drop in conversion LED bulb for an M951? Am I losing anything switching to an LED? Thanks.

Malkoff. https://malkoff-devices.myshopify.com/collections/surefire-drop-ins-for-6p-g2-c2-etc-6-9-volts

Their M61 is rated at 325 lumens for 1.5 hrs, and only costs $39.99

The M61L goes for 5 hours at 175 lumens

The M61LL produces 80 lumens for 10+ hours, any of which beats the crap out of the factory P60's 65 lumens for 60 minutes, or the P61 putting out 120 lumens for 20 minutes.

... And the Malkoffs all have a lifetime warranty.

This is the bulb you want...I've swapped out all my OEM bulbs with the M61 Malkoff bulb.

I converted my M952 using a CREE XM-L 1000 lumen bulb. They drop right in with zero mods. The only minor issue is that if you want the bezel to screw all the way down you'll need to do a little sanding on the module housing. Takes about 10 minutes and isn't a bad idea to do anyway as it creates a better contact surface for heat transfer. Even if you don't sand it, the bezel still screws well past the o-ring and is properly sealed.

I got mine on Ebay, but not all of the bulbs on there are equal quality. That being said, I've ordered 3 CREE XM-L bulbs from the same seller that were absolutely flawless, and I'd highly recommend them. Perfect mix of throw and spill with no imperfections in the beam at all. I've converted two Surefire 6Ps and a Surefire M952 using them and they work great. Best part is they are only $6.50. They also have no trouble handling the increased voltage from rechargeable batteries; I use them with Orbtronic 2500mAh 16650s (basically 2 CR123s in one battery) and get really decent battery life and the batteries pay for themselves after a few uses.

Couldn't agree more on the Malkof.
In many years of hard use only had one failure, and that was in the grand daughters use.
The kids are more brutal in their treatment of the lights than the most experienced "operator".
