Another option is that you can get a mount for your front sight base.

GG&G. Very solid setup on my carbine, very affordable. No cutting/removal of the double heatshields.

These are some pictures of the early version of the IWC mount. They are much improved now. They can mount a ring style or a scout style light.
I have not had time to take pictures in a while now. But the new mounts are much better, and more robust. No mods required to your handguards. |

MAGPUL sells sections of rails in various lengths. We bought two pieces for my dad's rifle with normal handguards and mounted a light and foregrip onto it. Works well so far for hog hunting and training.
Just need a drill and a drill bit. The piece we used for the bottom of the guards mounted in with the stock vent holes. The side piece we had to drill holes for. no big deal all the way around quick, easy and cheap. |
