I was thinking of getting one of these just because of the $30 price tag. I know it's no Surefire, but will it suck to the point of being unusable or die after a few mags worth of recoil? Has anyone actually tried one? Thanks!

You will get what you pay for.

With these types of lights, it isn't so much the LED breaking contact with the circuit board or springs, it is the mount will likely fail. It will suck when the light goes downrange. Then again, someone will come along and report 10 tours of iraqistan with one of these mounted to an M2 .50 or something.

You can get TLR-1's for like $90s and they are stupid reliable. The above light might be a neat thing to have, but I wouldn't put it on anything like a nightstand gun.

I bought two of their lasers, with diode swaps in mind. One of the lasers (green), is that exact unit, with a laser head (I think it may convert to a flashlight, too, I don't remember.

I was actually pretty impressed with the mount. Pretty dang solid. The switch I don't like, and there is no remote option for it (that I have seen). The green laser is not visible in direct sunlight, and mostly I use it on the cat now. May take it apart and see about doing a diode swap. I believe this is a re-branded NCSTAR. My official review is: Not total crap, but not top of the line.

I also bought the light/laser unit they offer with the laser under the light. It's total crap. (having checked their web page again, the one I bought looks like an Insight light/laser combo, and is not the one currently offered on their page)
