Is the Surefire z2 good for things that go bump in the night, indoors and out? Better light out there for the same money/size/weight?  Whats the lightest/strongest way to mount it on a rail system?

One of the best lights out there. The G2Z however is my favorite as it is cheaper and lighter and can take more abuse.

The Z2 & G2Z are both excellent lights for handheld use.  But, if you're considering a light for weapons mounted use then you would be better off just fixing up a G2 or 6P as it will yield the same exact performance but their straight body format allows for easier mount solutions.
