I put one of those Bolt on rails for the pistol grip under your handguards on the 11 O'clock of my M4 handguads.
With a flick of my thumb the light is on and out of the way when shooting from corners.

The pic isnt all that great but I think you can still get the idea:

I've had my M-3 about 2 years now. Mine is on my Glock 23 here. They are great lights.

Underdog,

Where did you get that lens cover from and what size is it?

It is a standard Butler Creek cap. I believe the size is 02A OBJ. I had to have my gun shop order it as it wasn't a size they normally stocked. I found a blurb about it on insight technology's website.

Looks good. I mopunted my M3 on the left side of my 3Rail gas block. I can hit use my thumb to activate the switch when shooting right handed, and my finger to activate it when shootingleft handed. Both without changing my grip on the rifle. I was about to go the surefire route, but the M3 is very compact, and illuminates more than enough for close up work, and target ID is still easy at 40yds.

Hey M4, where did you buy that mount for the M3 at? I have the same M4A3 as you and was thinking about doing the exact same thing! But I was going to mount it underneath.

Thanks.

I got it it a gunshow for $16 but I will try to find a place you can order them from online.

I really dont like the idea of mounting underneath, why?
If you are shooting from cover, you will most likely bang up your light, not be able to use the light because your cover is in the way and if you want to use your light when shooting from your cover you are exposing about 2" more of YOU that you have to since you are raising your m4 up higher so your light gets out.

Remember, cover is your best friend in a firefight. Also, if you will ever be in a firefight your senses are not as good as when your are target practicing and you want the least amount of hangups while shooting from your cover.

One other reason I like the 11:00 area for light mounting.

I have a bright orange dot on my front sight post. When the light is on and I am aiming in the dark I get much better beads on my targets rather that a dark silhouetted sight.

It seems that since the light is near the front sight tower, a small bit of the light beams shines on the front sight post.

Thanks again M4 for the info, but how did you get it at 11 o'clock, I know it's attached to the vent holes, but that's only at 6 and 12 o'clock positions.
