hello everyone, i am new in the community, but i am very interested in the different types of light-setups that people are running.

if anyone has any pictures around, could you please post some of the different setups you are running?

thanks a lot.

One of the better ways to see photos of SureFire WeaponLights is to get hold of the Guns&Ammo Combat Tactics Magazine that SureFire punlished a while back. I think SureFire gives you it for free if you order off their website (SF123As are very good value BTW) This forum also has photos in some threads showing the ITI/Streamlight M-3 handgun light mounted on various rifles. I suggest you have a look through the threads on this section and if you're still wanting perhaps we can show you photos of specific setups. Respectfully, Al

Here is a image of the new Desert Auscam kit. Anyone know the type of laser that is mounted on the left side of his RAS?
Link Posted: 3/31/2003 3:49:32 AM EDT
Looks like an IR laser/illuminator AN/PAQ-2A or one of it's variations... The flashlight looks like a form of 650-05 with either a cover or IR BeamFilter. Al

Ok, I'll buy that. But what is underneath the PEQ-type laser? The battery pack for the laser?
Link Posted: 3/31/2003 6:07:05 AM EDT
only thing i see below it is a GL probly a 203
Link Posted: 3/31/2003 9:55:02 AM EDT
It looks like a PEQ2 mounted on the side. Who are they? Australian?
Link Posted: 3/31/2003 4:17:58 PM EDT
Is there a major difference between a & e ? Where can I find out more information about the variations of these? Thanks Al

Just curious, but why is the rear sight on the ZM gun all the way on the front of the flat top?

Bear_Hunter - A VERY nice AR collection. Could you give me details on the forward grip that's on the RAS'd AR with the side-mounted M951? Thanks .... Chris
Link Posted: 4/1/2003 6:41:10 AM EDT
New-arguy, I moved the rear sight up on the ZM because its quicker for me close in with the 0-200. I'd have to put the spacer on the Aimpoint in order to use it on this weapon...pain in the ass since I only have one right now. Chris, Thanks...the forward grip is standard KAC...I just added bicycle tubing here and there until I got the feel I wanted.

This is probably the most powerful weapon light available. Maybe even too powerful! In the second pic the smaller version (M500A) is shown for comparison. I think the only time the bigger light (M500B) would be very useful would be outdoors, in a rural area. I keep it on a 20" rifle and the M500A is usually on a carbine. Very simple and functional. About the pic of the Aussie soldier. I see the Aussies are smarter than the Brits. It looks like they are using the M-16/M-4 versus the unreliable British SA-80.

Lumpy / JM03, What are you guys using to secure the pressure pad switch to the forward grip for your respective lights? I am thinking about switching out my “P” cap for an “SU” cap for my new setup. I have small hands and the SIR puts the light too high for me to effectively activate the button now. Recommendations / Insight is greatly appreciated. -Matthew

Get a "long" #4 rail from ARMS for the bottom of your SIR. It's about the same length as my jury-rigged short/long two rail setup: Put your grip behind your light, activate it with your knuckle: Chris

Hello All, I am new to the forums here and know this is off topic, but after looking at all the pics posted here I notice that many of you have a vertical grip installed on your rifles. Just curious why you all have them? I use my AR15 a lot and cannot think of a reason to have one so any reasons are welcome.

banthony1 responded to "Withdrew" by posting an image of a soldier and a weapon, titled "Desert Auscam and kit". Can anyone advise what the rifle is and all it's bolt on's? I can't tell if it's an ar10/.308, M4/.223 or what. The barrel looks very large. Can anyone make out what all the bolt on's are? I think I can see an Aimpoint Comp ML, ARMS SIRS, OTAL, 203 gl, but that's it. Can anyone confirm and or advise what they think the weapon and all the bolt on's are? Yes, i am either going to buy one or build one. I want it. Thanks

The forward grip handles faster, and it helps you control recoil. My SIR 46 is 20 miles from here, Fedex will deliver it monday. After that I imagin its back to MSTN for the M900.
Link Posted: 5/11/2003 3:42:57 AM EDT
Also a front grip puts the hand and arm in a biomechanically stronger position to help support all the crap on the front of a rifle. It makes the front end "feel" a lot lighter. Also as mentioned its faster for CQB movement and helps controll recoil so follow up shots are faster. I used to think they were ugly and unnecessary... till I tried one. It was the same reaction I had when trying my first BAC ACOG which was "Holy crap!" followed by "What took me so long to see the light?"
