SOG VFG - opinions?

Searching through recent topics & archives for favorite VFGs yielded the usual suspects of CQD, KAC, and Tango Down, and no real comments on the SOG. It looks interesting, but I'm a little concerned about its lack of popularity.

Do any of you run the SOG graphite grip with the rubber molding? I'm curious about durability, stability on a rail (this will be on a Daniel Defense FF tube), ease of attachment and removal, comfort, weight etc.

Its certainly cheap through most places. I found the portion that tightens into the rail tended to chew up the rail a bit on the one I've used. Its comfortable enough, but its a basic round grip, and there are other models out there that you may find more comfortable.

I know that I wouldn't put one on my DD rails.

Thanks for the honest assessment. Everything else on this AR is good quality stuff, so it would make sense to sacrifice the extra 6 boxes of ammo ($30) and get something better.

The Tango Down VFG seems to be universally loved by all. I tried many different VFGs before I finally ended up with the TD. I've got large hands, and it fits me very well, but even some of the people with small hands have liked it over the others VFGs.

See if there is someone local who can let you try it out, it all ends up being personal preference.

I tried one for a while and they are really lightweight - but broke one while installing it. Not very rugged. For cheap the promag is functional - for the toughest the CQD or ACE aluminum K-grip are the deal IMO.
